Beer All About It… Golden Ale

Beer All About It… Golden Ale

I’ve enjoyed several local beers over the last few weeks, but absent-mindedly I didn’t jot down a single note about any of them… poor me, I guess I’ll just have to drink them all over again in the near future. But as for now my deadline is drawling near and I simply must get my review in to the devout sprout before the next issue hits the web-waves. Lucky for me my lovely wife has stocked the fridge with 1 Golden Ale. A Belgian style beer made by local outfit Triangle Brewing Co. So let’s get to it

Brewer: Triangle Brewing Co.
Location: Durham NC.
Here’s their description:

“Belgian-Style Strong Golden Ale
This strong golden ale measures in at 8% & showcases a variety of the ingredients and brewing methods that help differentiate Triangle beers. The Strong Golden is fermented at a higher temperature than our other beers adding an undercurrent of fruitiness (although there is no fruit in the beer). Very lightly filtered, the Golden exhibits complex mouthfeel, strong malt flavors, a spicy hop presence and soothing alcohol warmth, followed by a clean, dry finish. It is excellent with food as well as served by itself. Bronze Medal Winner at 2009 & 2011 Carolina Championship of Beer. Food pairings: Richer dishes, meats, cheeses, stews, smoked foods. As an after-dinner drink.”

This is a dead on description, I really enjoyed this beer I only wish I had a few more as I really like to knock back a few on a few different occasions just to make sure that the life going on around me isn’t tainting the review. But I’m in a pretty relaxed mood, not too much going on… so yeah this is a fine beer. It is a full bodied beer & it does have an almost fruity or citrus undertone & the finish is really clean. It is a bit bitter but hey at 8% alcohol what would you expect & I kind of like the fact that I can taste all of it. Triangle Brewery was not messing around with this concoction I recommend you give it a shot & I can’t wait to try the rest of their brews.
